Kodi runs on all three, but “runs” and “runs well at 4K HDR” are different claims. Here’s what actually separates them.
Android TV Box
The most consistent 4K HDR performance of the three, provided you buy a box with a real Amlogic S905X3-class chip or better — the ultra-cheap unbranded boxes often cut corners on the exact hardware decoder needed for smooth HEVC playback.
Fire TV Stick
Fine for 1080p and even most 4K content on the Stick 4K/4K Max, but the base Fire TV Stick’s limited RAM shows under Kodi with a large library — expect slower menu navigation with big addon setups.
Raspberry Pi (4/5)
Excellent hardware decoding for the price via LibreELEC, and the most “Kodi-native” of the three since LibreELEC is a Kodi-first OS. The tradeoff is a more hands-on setup — flashing an SD card and configuring networking isn’t as plug-and-play as the other two.
Our take
For most people: Android TV Box for the best out-of-box 4K experience, Raspberry Pi if you want full control and don’t mind the setup, Fire TV Stick 4K Max if you already own one and don’t want to buy separate hardware.
